A range of Australian made hobby paints – I have not been able to find a lot of detail about them online. Some are still in useable condition, though I imagine there would be various heavy metals in their makeup, given the vintage – c.1950s. ? These are things that could be quite rare, as such old tins of paint would tend to be thrown out by many people in the course of cleaning or moving house.
Grandfather lived in Kotara, a suburb of Newcastle and used to cycle to work at Thomas McPherson & Sons in the city. These were originally from his fascinating car shed. I am trying to find records of the bikes that he had – a racer and a roadster, I think.
Ripolin is an old enamel paint brand from Europe that dates back more than a century – most searches online relate to its use by artists such as Sidney Nolan and Picasso, amongst others. Can you guess the age of this tin of undercoat ? It is also from my grandfather’s collection.
